Rutherfurd Stuyvesant Estate: Profanity Houses

6/5/2019

The Stuyvesant's were a very wealthy family, and named many things in New York, like Bed-stuy, Stuy town and Stuyvesant high school. The family had a large New Jersey estate called "Tranquility Farms" with 5,000 acres of land and a 65 room mansion which burned down in 1959. The land was then purchased by the state and became part on a national park, but they never tore down the remaining structures. It was named the Profanity houses, because of all of the profanity in each house on every single surface. The buildings have been burned down, and now the police are looking for those responsible to arrest them.
