The Kutshers family opened the "Kutshers Brothers Farm House" in 1907. From there, they expanded in the 1920's and 1930's the hotel for jewish New Yorkers. By the 1940's, the hotel had expanded to 1,500 acres, 400 room building, condos, bungalow colonies, two summer camps, lakefront, 18 hole golf course, night club, kosher restaurants, and a sports building. Sports was also very important at Kutshers, many pro sports players have played or trained at Kutshers like, Muhammed Ali, Floyd Patterson, and Leon Spinks. Entertainers at Kutsher also included Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Woody Allen and Jerry Seinfeld. Like Grossingers and the other Borscht Belt hotels, Kutshers Hotel started to decline in 1960's as planes became more common. The Kutshers Hotel was called the "Last Castkills Resort", and closed in 2013. Most buildings have been demolished, but three buildings still remain. The legacy lives on as the resort was mentioned in season 2 of "The Marvelous Mrs.Maisel". Soon all the buildings will be torn down to create a yoga retreat. Photos:
